At Professional Response, we are committed to keeping our customers informed of industry developments that may impact transport operations and service delivery.

From 1 July 2026, further changes to international transport legislation will come into effect as part of the European Mobility Package. These regulations will apply to vehicles over 2.5 tonnes Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) operating internationally and will introduce mandatory tachograph usage alongside stricter drivers’ hours requirements.
Whilst these changes are designed to improve road safety, driver welfare, and compliance standards across Europe, they may affect journey planning, transit times, and operational flexibility. Key changes include:
Driving Time
Drivers will be limited to:
- Maximum 9 hours driving per day
- Extended to 10 hours per day on no more than two occasions per week
Working Time
A driver’s working day includes:
- Driving
- Loading and unloading
- Vehicle checks and maintenance
- Administrative duties
- Periods spent awaiting instructions
Limits:
- Maximum 13-hour working day
- Extendable to 15 hours on up to three occasions per week
Weekly Driving Limits
- Maximum 56 hours driving per week
- Maximum 90 hours driving across any two consecutive weeks
Daily and Weekly Rest Requirements
- Standard daily rest: 11 hours
- Reduced daily rest: 9 hours (up to three times between weekly rests)
- Standard weekly rest: 45 hours
- Reduced weekly rest: 24 hours (subject to applicable regulations)
What This Means for Your Business
To ensure full compliance with these regulations, there may be occasions where:
- Collection and delivery schedules require adjustment.
- Additional planning time is needed for urgent shipments.
- Longer-distance movements require alternative routing or driver arrangements.
- Transport costs may increase due to compliance requirements and operational
constraints.
Our experienced operations team will continue to plan every movement as efficiently as possible while ensuring complete compliance with all legal obligations.
